Two techniques, two economic models
Screen printing has been around for 60 years: one screen per color, ink pushed through a mesh. Every extra color = extra setup cost. Ideal for large, identical runs.
DTF (Direct-to-Film) is digital and recent (industrial since 2020): the design is printed in CMYK + white on a film, then heat-transferred. No screen, no setup cost: 1 or 100 pieces at the same volume-discounted unit price.
