Custom merch for the Gentse Feesten: an organizer's guide
Published June 24, 2026
The Gentse Feesten run for 10 days in late July, drawing 1.5 million visitors and hosting dozens of stands, stages and associations. For organizers, non-profits, neighborhood committees and stand holders, custom merch is identity, extra revenue and tight logistics. Here is how to approach it.
3 typical merch categories at the Gentse Feesten
- Staff and volunteers: t-shirts in a unified color (often red, yellow or blue), with organizer logo in DTF.
- Public sale: t-shirts, hoodies, totes, caps sold at stands. Creative designs, Ghent references, usually DTF.
- Sponsor goodies: items handed out free (sponsor-branded totes, caps). Higher volume, simpler design.
When to order? The critical backwards plan
The Gentse Feesten traditionally start in the third week of July. Recommended timeline:
- Mid-May (W-10): creative brief, textile choice, design approval.
- Early June (W-7): firm order, 30% deposit.
- Mid-June (W-5): production starts. Earlier = you avoid carrier delays in peak season.
- Late June (W-3): delivery to your depot or association venue.
- Early July: individual staff marking (if needed), distribution per stand.
Never order after June 25: even with 5-day express production, carriers are saturated in July and may fail you 3 days before kick-off.
Indicative pricing for the Gentse Feesten

Designs that work in Ghent
- Local visual references: Belfort, Leie, Patershol. Great for public sale to tourists.
- Bold colors: Ghent likes strong contrast, especially for night sales. DTF reproduces vivid colors perfectly.
- Year and edition: "Gentse Feesten 2026" → collectible, drives purchase.
- Multilingual caution: Dutch primary, English welcome for tourists, French secondary.
Logistics: pickup and storage
- Delivery to Ghent via Bpost or DPD: 24-48h after production.
- Pickup in Huizingen: 1h drive. Useful for urgent groups.
- Temporary storage: count 1 pallet per 500 pieces. Avoid humidity.
- Pre-sorting per stand: on request, we split by size and stand in the order.
Public sale: realistic business model
For non-profits selling merch as a revenue stream:
- Tee cost ~EUR 6 excl. VAT, sold EUR 15-20 at stand → gross margin EUR 9-14/pc.
- Tote cost ~EUR 4 excl. VAT, sold EUR 8-12 → margin EUR 4-8.
- Cap cost ~EUR 7.50 excl. VAT, sold EUR 15-20 → margin EUR 7-12.
Expected sales over 10 days for a well-located stand: 100-300 pieces. That is EUR 1 000 to 4 000 gross margin for your association.
